Harish Joshi was arrested yesterday under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (possessing and smuggling of narcotic drugs), DRI officials said. <br />Sources said he was initially picked up by the agency on Monday evening outside the gates of the posh DLF Exclusive Floors in Gurgaon along with another accomplice and a large suitcase. "On opening the suitcase, we found 5.2 kg of heroin," an official said. Sources said Joshi, chairman of Grimus group of companies, which run several education institutes across the world, has admitted to the agency of being involved in the narcotic trade for quite some time. "He gave us a statement under the Section 180 of the Customs Act which is admissible in the court. He was put under arrest on Tuesday and was immediately produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who has remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days," a top official said. According to sources, Joshi was under surveillance for several days and he was to deliver the drugs to his accomplice in Canada. DRI said further investigations are going on in the case and did not rule out more arrests. "He has been operating the racket for some time. He was into the narcotics trade as a side business and had undertaken similar trips before also," an official said adding that he mostly used human couriers to deliver the consignments.
